Statins May Be Cancer-Fighting 'Wonder Drugs'
The cholesterol-lowering drugs
called statins, used by many to protect against heart disease, may
also guard against several kinds of cancers. Already shown to shield
against prostate cancer, two new studies suggest statins also
provide a greater than 50 percent reduction in risk with pancreatic
and esophageal cancer, the researchers said. The studies were to be
presented Monday at Digestive Disease Week 2005, in Chicago.
Megavitamin Treatment of Cancer
Anti Cancer Nutrition
A large number of special diets ranging from fasting (water only) to juice fasts
to low fat and sugar free diets are used. Every one of the special diets have
proponents who think they are very helpful, and patients who have been helped by
them but no one has ever conducted an experiment to compare all the diets to
determine which is the best. Perhaps there will never be a "best". Because of
the individuality of people it may turn out that each person will have to
determine what is their own best diet. In my book Hoffer's Laws of Natural

Research
backs
theory
that

CANCER
RISK
FROM
SUGAR IN
DRINKS
A
dietary
survey
of
80,000
men and
women,
which
ran from
1997 to
2005,
shows
that a
heavy
intake
of fizzy
drinks,
creamed
fruit
and
sugar in
tea and
coffee
increases
the risk
of
pancreatic
cancer. Pancreatic
cancer
is a
very
serious
form of
cancer
that is
possibly
caused
when the
pancreas
produces
heightened
levels
of
insulin
as a
consequence
of upset
glucose
metabolism.
A
well-known
way of
increasing
insulin
production
is to
eat a
lot of
sugar.
Scientists
have
now, for
the
first
time,
shown
that the
consumption
of
sweetened
food and
drink
affects
a
person’s
chances
of
developing
pancreatic
cancer.
The
mineral
selenium
proves
itself
as
powerful
anti-cancer
medicine
One of
the most
effective
naturally
occurring
weapons
against
cancer
is, like
most
healthy
things,
something
many of
us are
not
getting
enough
of. The
mineral
selenium
has been
shown in
multiple
studies
to be an
effective
tool in
warding
off
various
types of
cancer,
including
breast,
esophageal,
stomach,
prostate,
liver
and
bladder
cancers.
Not many
people
get the
recommended
dose of
200
micrograms
a day.
Most
Americans
only get
between
60 and
100
micrograms
of
selenium
daily
from
dietary
sources,
according

Life
Extension
Foundation's

Treatment.
That
means
daily
supplements
might be
worth
considering.

Remedies
threat to cancer care
Many cancer patients risk
compromising their treatment by using complementary remedies,
research suggests.Scientists at London's Homerton Hospital Hospital
warn remedies such as garlic, cod liver oil and St John's Wort pose
a risk of side effects. However, a survey of more than 300 cancer
patients found more than half took herbal remedies or food
supplements.

DCA, or

acid,
is
an
analogue
of
acetic
acid in

Because
it is a
corrosive
acid, it
must be
"buffered"
to damp
down the
acidity,
and it
is
usually
administered
as
sodium dichloroacetate.The
drug in
this
case,

In basic

Vitamin

study
A
landmark
new
study is
raising
the
tantalizing
spectre
that a
simple
and
cheap
vitamin
supplement
may
offer a
highly
effective
way of
preventing
cancer.
The
research,
published
in the
online
edition
of the
American
Journal
of
Clinical
Nutrition,
finds
that a
combination
of
vitamin
D3 and
calcium
has a
substantially
marked
effect
on
reducing
cancer
incidence.
The
four-year
study
out of
Creighton
University
in
Nebraska
found
that
women
who
regularly
took
vitamin
D3 had a
60 per
cent
reduction
in
cancer
infections
compared
to a
group
taking
placebos.

may
decrease
the risk
of slim
people
contracting

cancer,
according
to a

but
supplements
may have
the
opposite
effect.
People
with an
average

body
weight
were at
a
reduced
risk of
pancreatic
cancer
if they
ate a
diet
rich in
vitamin
B6,
vitamin
B12 and
folate,
concluded
the
study in
the
American
Association

Cancer
Research's

conclusions
were
based on
the
combined
data of
four
large
studies
and
found
that the
target
group's
risk was
81 per
cent, 73
per cent
and 59
per cent
lower if
their
diet
contained
significant
amounts
of B6,
vitamin
B12 and
folate
respectively.
If you use herbs, do so
responsibly. Consult your doctor about your health conditions and use of
herbal supplements. Herbs may be harmful if taken for the wrong
conditions, used in excessive amounts, combined with prescription drugs
or alcohol, or used by persons who don't know what they are doing. Just
because an herbal remedy is natural, does not mean it is safe! There are
herbs that are poisonous such as Poison Hemlock, Jimson weed, and many
more.
